Taking white blends into left field – 3 varieties, 3 years, 3 barrels. The result: Complexity, layers, structure, texture – yum.....

The fruit from Bromley Wines in sourced from select vineyards from the Bellarine Peninsula and Moorabool Valley near Geelong, Victoria.

Our philosophy on wine and style stems from Darren’s experiences over the last 25 years, tasting, sampling, and drinking wines and visiting regions around the world.

Experience in the retail sector and working as a winemaker in regions including Frankland River, WA, Barossa Valley SA, Chianti Italy and since 2007 in Geelong have all influenced stylistic choices for Bromley.

The most important factor for us is that the fruit/site is allowed to express itself in the wines. Darren’s role is to cajole and steer the wines through their journey to bottle, only assisting when required allowing the vineyard and the qualities of the fruit and vintage to shine through.

Utilisation of indigenous yeasts, natural malolactic fermentation and extended time on skins are all hallmarks of the Bromley style.

This wine must not be too cold – let the complexity sing!

VINTAGE NOTES

Complex and convoluted, but bear with me! Commenced in 2016 when 1 barrel of Pinot Gris was held back from bottle on lees sans sulphur for further evolution. In 2017 this barrel was split between 2 barrels (50:50) and these were filled with Semillon immediately post ferment. In 2018 two barrels were split between 3. All 3 barrels were then topped/filled with 2018 Chenin Blanc post ferment. To this point NO sulphur addition and remains on original collective ferment lees with no stirring. In May 2019 barrels were stirred then immediately racked to ensure lees taken. 1 of the barrels was half filled then topped with 2019 Riesling/Chenin so the tradition will continue (PB2). The remainder of the wine was prepared for bottling with a small dose of SO2, allowed to settle then filtered without fining
